Nuggs, a NYC-based maker of plant-based chicken products, raised $4.1m in funding.
The round was led by Lerer Hippeau.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.
Founded by serial entrepreneur Ben Pasternak, Nuggs is a maker of plant-based chicken products which operates like a software company, now called Simulate. It utilizes advanced soy protein technology that enables a hyper-realistic simulation of the texture and flavor of an animal-based nugget. NUGGS are continuously updated by the team of food scientists and engineers. The company takes user feedback, finds areas for improvement and develops new versions of the product.
