Vicarious Surgical, a Boston, MA-based maker of a new surgical robotics platform closed an additional $13.2m in funding.
The round was led by Philip Liang of E15 Capital, with participation from existing investors Bill Gates, Khosla Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, and AME Cloud Ventures. With this financing, Vicarious Surgical added Philip Liang and Ric Fulop (the founding CEO of Desktop Metal) to their Board of Directors.
The company plans use the proceeds to further develop its new surgical robotics platform.
Co-founded by Adam Sachs and Sammy Khalifa along with Dr. Barry Greene, a board certified Bariatric and General Surgeon, Vicarious Surgical aims to transport surgeons inside the patient to perform minimally invasive surgery using proprietary human-like surgical robots and virtual reality. The company holds a patent for its virtual reality surgical system.
