Playbook Raises $9.3M in Series A Funding

Playbook, a NYC-based mobile marketplace enabling instructors in fitness and athletics to create and distribute their content, raised $9.3M in Series A funding.

Backers included E.ventures, Michael Ovitz, Abstract, Aglae Ventures, Porsche Ventures and FJ Labs. This latest round of funding adds to a $3M round raised in June, bringing total funding for Playbook to $12.3M. 

Co-founded in 2017 by Jeff Krahel, Michael Wojcieszek, and Kasper Ødegaard, Playbook is a mobile marketplace where instructors in health, fitness, and athletics can upload and distribute their content, build up a subscriber base, and generate significant revenue.

The app now features over 250+ fitness instructors who have published a total of more than 40,000 workouts on the platform. Top instructors include Boss Everline, Magnus Lydgback, Don Saladino, Nick Bare, Julian Smith, Ruba Ali, Hannah Bower, and Morgan Tyler.

The platform is continually adding new instructors and programs across a range of disciplines like yoga, meditation, pre & postnatal sports, and personal training.
