Allobee, a Durham, N.C.-based managed marketplace for small businesses and startups, secured $500K in funding.

The round was led by Stargazer Ventures and a network of angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds for customer acquisition, brand awareness, as well as hiring of a full time engineer, Niki Gitinabard, once bound for Silicon Valley, now bringing her PhD in Computer Science and Machine Learning from N.C. State University to Allobee.

Founded by Brooke Markevicius, Allobee is a solution for women and small companies in need of business support services like bookkeeping and tech assistance, or upleveling visibility with podcast editing, website development, graphic design, or social media. The company’s algorithm connects business owners nationwide to a vetted, underutilized workforce of experienced, professional women who have left the traditional 9 to 5, and provides a workflow to the logistics of hiring, paying, and managing projects to completion.
