Abwaab, an Amman, Jordan-based edtech startup, closed $5.1M USD seed funding.
The round, which brought total funding to $7.5M USD, was led by 4DX Ventures, BECO Capital, EQ2 Ventures, Foundation Ventures, GSV Ventures, and Spartech Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its regional expansion, starting with Egypt.
Founded in 2019 by Hamdi Tabbaa, CEO, Abwaab is an online learning platform that allows secondary school students in MENA to learn at their own pace, test themselves and get ahead with expert tutors anytime and anywhere. The platform, which offers concept-based video lessons, visualized learning journeys, continuous assessment, and performance-tracking features, can be accessed via desktop and mobile web.
This round comes almost a year after Abwaab launched its product in Jordan. Since then, the startup has been focused on product and content development, has produced over 50 thousand video lessons and questions and currently serves hundreds of thousands of unique students.
