Yousician, a NYC-based interactive music platform, closed a $28m Series B round of funding.
The round was led by True Ventures with participation from new investors Amazon’s Alexa Fund and MPL Ventures LLP, angel investors Mark Pincus; Jason Calacanis, David Helgason, Rolf Schrömgens, Moaffak Ahmed, Bryan Meehan, and Anne Badan.
The company intends to use the funds to further develop its product offering, make key new hires, and invest in both brand marketing and artist partnerships.
Chris Thür, co-founder and CEO, Yousician is a music education platform that uses interactive learning techniques to empower anyone to learn and play the guitar, piano, ukulele, bass and singing. Its audio recognition technology listens to the user play and provides real-time feedback. This creates an educational and structural learning path for users at any experience level. The platform also provides lesson plans created by in-house music teachers.
The company also provides GuitarTuna, an instrument tuner. The tools are used by 20 million people around the world each month.
The company reached a total revenue of $50m in 2020.
