Anthropic, a San Francisco, CA-based AI safety and research company, raised $124m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Jaan Tallinn, with participation from James McClave, Dustin Moskovitz, the Center for Emerging Risk Research, Eric Schmidt, and others.
The company intends to use the funds to execute against its research roadmap and build prototypes of steerable AI systems.
Led by siblings Dario Amodei (CEO) and Daniela Amodei (President), Anthropic is advacning research to develop large-scale AI systems. The company will focus on research into increasing the reliability of large-scale AI models, developing the techniques and tools to make them more interpretable, and building ways to integrate human feedback into the development and deployment of these systems.
