Back Market, a Paris, France-based premier refurbished marketplace dedicated to electronics, raised €276m in Series D funding.
The round was led by General Atlantic with the support of Generation Investment Management, as well as existing investors Aglaé Ventures, Eurazeo, Goldman Sachs Growth Equity and daphni.
The company intends to use the funds to consolidate and build on its position as a dedicated marketplace in refurbished electronics. While it has proven itself to be one of the main players in France and Spain, as well as Germany, Back Market plans to continue bolstering its position in these countries and throughout Europe.
Launched in 2014 by Thibaud Hug de Larauze, Quentin Le Brouster, and Vianney Vaute, Back Market is a tech marketplace which brings professionally refurbished electronic devices and appliances to customers in 13 countries (including the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and more recently, Portugal, Japan, Finland and Ireland). The company employs a team of 480 employees and counting across its 4 offices located in New York, Berlin, Paris and Bordeaux.
