Chaldal, a Dhaka, Bangladesh-based grocery delivery platform, raised $10m in Series C funding round.
The round was led by Taavet Hinrikus (co-founder of Wise), Sten Tamkivi (CPO of Topia), and Xploration Capital, with the participation from Mir Group.
The company will use this funding to expand across Bangladesh and develop its other product offerings.
Co-founded in 2014 by Waseem Alim, Tejas Viswanath, and Zia Ashraf, Chaldal delivers groceries on-demand through a network of warehouses enabled by their technology platform. Their customers can select from over 8,500 different products and have them delivered within an hour. In the past 12 months, the company generated $40M in revenue and performed 2.5 million orders.
The online grocery platform is available in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Chattogram, and Jashore. The company delivers over 3 million orders a year through 27 warehouses located in 4 cities.
