AllTrails, a San Francisco CA-based digital guide to the outdoors, raised $150M in growth funding.
The round was led by Permira with participation from Spectrum Equity (which will remain the majority shareholder).
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development and international expansion.
Led by Ron Schneidermann, CEO, AllTrails provides a platform that helps users find and explore new trails, connect to routes best suited for their unique needs, and get outdoors with ease provided by navigation tools, as well as reviews and photos from other users. Within the system, people of all skill levels can discover, record, and share their outdoor experiences. AllTrails is today home to a large collection of digital trail guides, with over 300,000 hiking, running, and mountain biking trails worldwide. The app has been downloaded more than 40 million times and boasts trail coverage in 190 countries, 30 territories, and on all 7 continents.
