New Culture Raises $25M in Series A Funding

New Culture, a San Leonardo, CA-based company maker of animal-free casein and animal-free mozzarella, raised $25M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Ahren Innovation Capital and CPT Capital with participation from new investors ADM Ventures, Be8 Ventures, S2G Ventures and Future Ventures. and existing investors Evolv Ventures (the corporate venture arm of Kraft Heinz), SOSV’s IndieBio, Bee Partners, Mayfield, Alumni Ventures Group, and Bluestein Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, technology expansion and its business reach.

Co-founded by Matt Gibson and Inja Radman, New Culture offers animal-free dairy products (including mozzarella) by combining traditional cheesemaking, fermentation, and food science.

The company promises its animal-free dairy products are indistinguishable from conventional products in taste, texture, function, and nutritional content. New Culture cheese will first be available in select dining experiences in 2022, starting with mozzarella in pizzerias.
