Nodar, a Somerville, MA-based provider of a long-range 3D vision technology, raised $12M in Series A funding.

The round was led by New Enterprise Associates, with participation from existing investor Rhapsody Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds for R&D and further productization of its core technology, as well as expanded sales and marketing initiatives.

Led by CEO Leaf Jiang, Nodar provides camera-based 3D vision technology, which is a component in the development of ADAS and autonomous vehicles, bringing safety, advanced performance, and cost-effectiveness to the automotive market. Nodar targets SAE L2+ and L3 passenger vehicle advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as well as L4 trucks and robotaxis.

Its flagship product, Hammerhead™, leverages advances in processing, computer vision algorithms, and camera technology to produce ultra-precise 3D point clouds from two or more cameras. Its patented algorithms maintain alignment between cameras mounted independently on the vehicle, offering OEMs flexibility on where to locate the cameras. It is an ideal solution for forward collision warning, path planning, automatic emergency braking, traffic jam assist, VRU detection, and parking valet.
