SafetyWing, a San Francisco, California-based insurtech company building a global social safety net for remote companies, workers, and nomads, closed a $35m Series B funding.

The round was led by Kinnevik with participation from DG Ventures, byFounders, Mundi Ventures, and CE Fintech.

The funding will enable the business to scale its Remote Health offering across the globe and continue to improve the product.

Founded in 2018 by CTO Sarah Sandnes, COO Hans Nyvold Kjellby, and CEO Sondre Rasch, SafetyWing provides insurance products for remote teams and entrepreneurs. Their first product, Nomad Insurance, is a global travel medical insurance specifically tailored to digital nomads working outside of their home country. In 2020 the company launched Remote Health, a health insurance to cover employees and contractors under one plan, making it a global health insurance solution for remote teams.

SafetyWing has a 100-strong team of fully remote workers based all over the world.
