Shares, a London, United Kingdom-based social and community-based investing app, raised $40m in Series B funding.
The round, which brings the total raised to $90M, was led by Valar Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to expand across Europe whilst launching its crypto-asset proposition, amongst other innovative social-first community features, to its platform.
Co-founded by CPO Harjas Singh, CEO Ben Chemlas, and CTO François Ruty, Shares is building a social and community-powered investing app for any investor to make trades, manage their portfolio, and discuss opportunities with friends and family. With Shares, family, friends and seasoned investors can invest together, sharing knowledge and experience to inspire long-term growth in their investments. The app in the UK currently offers social trading, activity feeds and push notifications, group watchlists and activity signals, chats and social push notifications, analyst ratings and price alerts, amongst others.
Since launching in the UK in May 2022, the company has garnered over 150,000 users. Subject to relevant regulatory approvals, Shares expects to go live in the rest of Europe by the end of the year. It has since hired regional general managers and teams in Barcelona, Berlin, Stockholm, Krakow and Amsterdam to support its growth within these markets.
