Lumotive, a Redmond, WA-based developer of Light Control Metasurface (LCM™) beam steering chips enabling the next generation of lidar, raised an undisclosed amount of funding.
The round was led by Samsung Ventures with participation from Himax Technologies Inc., Bill Gates, Quan Funds and MetaVC Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development and customer delivery of optical semiconductor devices that enable the next generation of lidar sensors.
Led by CEO Dr. Sam Heidari, Lumotive utilizes beam-steering technology based on patented Light Control Metasurfaces™ and implemented in standard semiconductor manufacturing processes to deliver enable software-defined lidar with advanced perception capabilities. More than two dozen companies are currently engaged with the company’s LCM chips to develop next-generation systems for autonomy, automation, and augmented reality (AR) markets.
