Embody, a Norfolk, VA-based medical device company, raised $10.4M in Series C funding.
The round was led by Genesis Innovation Group’s cultivate(MD) Capital Funds LP.
Led by CEO Jeff Conroy, Embody provides a platform with collagen-based bio-fabrication techniques and products for the sports medicine market, including rotator cuff repair, foot & ankle, and knee ligament. Founded in 2014, it was funded more than $23m in DARPA & DOD funding.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations, conduct post-market clinical studies of the recently launched Tapestry RC System for rotator cuff and prepare for the commercial launch of ActivBraid™ high-strength collagen-based suture technology in 2023.
