Optics11 Life, an Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based fiber optics life science instrumentation company, raised €5M in funding.

The round was led by Forward.ONE, with participation from Value Creation Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to rollout new products applying its novel technology for experiments at scale requiring screening of in vitro models and biomaterials, continue building the business across Europe and oversee an expanded presence in the United States, to include new offices on the West Coast and expanding the sales team.

Led by CEO Niek Rijnveld, Optics11 Life uses fiber-optic sensing technology to advance measurement instruments to drive personalized medicine. The Pavone nanoindenter combines mechanical screening, incubation, and optical imaging for extended live-cell studies in near-physiological environments. Pharma, biotech, and academic customers have already used Optics11 Life’s Piuma, Chiaro, and Pavone devices for applications including drug development, regenerative medicine, and diagnostics.

Optics11 was founded as a spin-off from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
