Penpot, a Madrid, Spain-based provider of an open-source, collaborative design and prototyping platform by Kaleidos, raised $8M in funding.
The round was led by Decibel with participation from Athos Capital, Eric Wittman, and Dave Crossland.
The company intends to use the funds to build more features for designers and developers and expand its community.
Founded in 2011 and led by Pablo Ruiz-Múzquiz, CEO, Kaleidos develops and optimizes two open-source products meant for digital cross-functional teams: Penpot, an open-source design and prototyping platform used by more than 10,000 companies, including Google, Microsoft, Red Hat, Tencent, Bytedance and Mozilla, and Taiga, a project management tool for agile teams used by more than a million people worldwide, including companies like HP, Red Hat, and Tata.
