Protexxa, a Toronto, Canada-base cybersecurity startup, raised CA$4M in Seed funding.

The round was led by BKR Capital, with participation from The Firehood Angels, Jeff Fettes, Annette Verschuren, and Leen Li.

The company intends to use the funds to build out the cybersecurity platform with assisted remediation technology, facilitate pilots with global customers, and prepare to scale its operations.

Led by CEO Claudette McGowan, Protexxa is a B2B SaaS cybersecurity startup that connects the dots between personal cyber hygiene and business risk. Using artificial intelligence (AI), the platform identifies, evaluates, predicts, and resolves common cyber issues. With a key focus on prevention and increasing global cyber literacy, the company also offers personalized training and consulting for companies worldwide. The personalized cybersecurity protection platform is currently being piloted across several industries including government, academia, and healthcare.

Protexxa is currently in the process of filing several patents.

The Advisory Board is comprised of Chair Jodi Kovitz, as well as Wes Hall, Chairman of Kingsdale; Sherry Shannon-Vanstone, former CEO of Trustpoint and now CEO of Profound Impact; Yung Wu, CEO of MaRS; Jean Augustine, CEO of Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment; and Larissa Holmes, former Chief Talent Officer at Borrowell.
