Surgery Hero Raises £2.5M in Seed Funding

-

Surgery Hero (fka formerly Sapien Health Limited), a London, UK-based provider of a digital clinic, raised £2.5M in Seed funding.

The round investors included LifeArc Ventures, Crista Galli Ventures, Clarendon Fund Managers, and SFC Capital. Damien Lane (founding partner of Episode 1 Ventures) and Imran Hamid (former surgeon and Senior Investment Principal at LifeArc Ventures) both join the board.

The company intends to use the funds to scale the solution through the application of machine learning and establish a presence in the US market.

Led by CEO Dr. Matthew Beatty, Surgery Hero is a digital clinic that helps people prepare for and recover from surgery at home. Members access the program via the app, and each program is personalized, tailored according to their personal risk factors for surgery and upcoming procedure. Every member is also paired with their own expert human health coach, whose role is to help patients turn the knowledge acquired through the program into action.

Founded in May 2020, Surgery Hero has currently commissioned by 10% of Integrated Care Systems in the UK and committed to provide over 8,000 programs for people currently awaiting surgery.
