Aja Labs, a Raleigh, NC-based hair fiber science company, raised $2.5M in Seed funding.
The round was led by Impact America Fund, Better Ventures, and SOSV’s IndieBio, with participation from Diishan Imira. The strategic group of angels and investors includes Overlap Holdings, Joshua Mailman Foundation, Making of Black Angels & Commune Angels, Debut Capital, and individual contributors.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its move from development to commercialization of their first product, biomaterial hair fibers made from plant material sold under the consumer brand Nourie.
Founded in 2020 and led by Chief Executive Officer and Founder Osahon Ojeaga, and Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder Dr. Mary Moore, a materials and polymer engineer, Aja Labs is a materials innovation company creating fibers and materials by collaborating with nature. Nourie, the company’s first consumer brand, features patent-pending hair extensions, including a time-release function, delivering a nutrient complex over time during wear.
