Artifact, a San Francisco, CA-based platform for recording family stories via audio, raised $5M in Seed funding.

The round included a pre-seed led by Spark Capital and a new seed led by GV (Google Ventures). Offline Ventures, Goodwater Capital, Atento Capital, and a group of angels also participated.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth and new features.

Led by Ross Chanin, CEO, Artifact is a company that records life stories in audio memoirs. Its interviewers conduct professional interviews with guests, provide studio-quality edits, and, in turn, create an instant heirloom that families can cherish, share, and tune into. Over the coming months, the company will introduce Family Spaces within Artifact account, where users will be able to add family members.
