Customcells, an Itzehoe and and Tübingen, Germany-based battery cell manufacturer, raised €60M in Series A funding.
The round was led by World Fund and Abacon Capital with participation from existing investor Vsquared Ventures and Porsche.
will remain the company’s largest shareholders after the funding.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its activities in the electrification of air traffic, intensify its research and development work and drive forward its internationalization.
A spin-off of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft founded by Leopold König and Torge Thönnessen, and now led by Dirk Abendroth, CEO, Customcells has been active in the development and series production of lithium-ion battery cells, from prototypes to small and medium series, for more than ten years. The company works along the entire value chain, from development to certification and series production to recycling.
To date, the company has completed well over 1,000 development-intensive projects.
