Comun, a NYC-based neobank focused on Latinos, raised $4.5M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Costanoa Ventures with participation from South Park Commons and FJ Labs.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach among Latino immigrants in the U.S.

Founded in 2021 by Abiel Gutierrez and Andres Santos, Comun provides Latino immigrants and Spanish speakers with the opportunity to open a bank account with their passport from their cell phone. It offers, via a Spanish-first user experience, and 24/7 support, a Visa debit card, direct deposits for payroll, and free ATM withdrawals and deposits. The platform also provides educational content to allow users to manage their finances.
