SwarmFarm Robotics, a Gindie, Australia-based AgTech company, raised AUD$12M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Emmertech, with participation from Tribe Global Ventures, Access Capital, Tenacious Ventures, and GrainInnovate.
The company intends to use the funds to develop and grow operations and its business reach.
Founded in 2015 and led by CEO Andrew Bate, SwarmFarm Robotics specializes in the development and use of intelligent robotics in Australian agriculture. It provides SwarmBot, a universal platform that can operate in a wide array of industries, and an operating system network, SwarmConnect, which enables developers to create an array of innovative applications for users of the autonomous platform. The company’s fleet (or Swarms) of sensor-guided autonomous units are already operating in a commercial capacity with early adopter farmers in Australia. SwarmFarm announced last year that SwarmBots had successfully been deployed to farmers who covered over 1.3 million commercial acres, operated for 64,000 hours, and reduced pesticide inputs by an estimated 780 tons.
Today, the company serves customers across Australia and works with some of the most innovative farm equipment developers, including WEED-IT, Bilberry, Weedseeker, Hayes Spraying, Rasmussen Brothers Engineering, Goldacres, and Croplands.
Three applications have been finalised and are ready for commercial use by farming businesses – Spray, Spread and Mow.
