Worldwide Webb, a London, UK-based provider of an interoperable pixel art MMORPG metaverse game, closed a US$10m Series A round of financing.

The round was led by Pantera Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to invest in recruitment, including marketing and community teams, as well as its game team to enhance gameplay and create new products.

Launched in 2020 by Thomas Webb (CEO) and Yuan Gao (CTO), Worldwide Webb is an advanced browser-based game built for the web3 era, offering a fully-competitive, low latency, high scale MMORPG accessible to anyone with a browser on mobile or desktop. Players can build, create, and fight in a virtual world using their own NFTs, acting as a social space that allows web3 avatars and users from across chains to connect together in player-vs-player (PvP), questing, raids, and participate in a thriving economy.

In the coming weeks, Worldwide Webb will release PvP—a web3 game that enables NFTs from different collections to battle against each other—setting up classic matches between Deadfellaz, CryptoPunks, CrypToadz, Cool Cats, Doodles, and BAYC. With over a million avatars integrated, PvP represents a highly interactive cross-chain, cross-collection experience, allowing players to battle one another for the top spot, earning them rare NFT items in the process. The company is also rolling out on-chain in-game items, allowing players to create their own in-game businesses and items, as well as the launch of AI-powered UGC tools.

The team will continue to integrate more NFT collections into the game and is also working with major brands and IP holders to build bespoke and gamified experiences within the Worldwide Webb universe.
