Consensus, a Boston, MA-based AI-powered search engine designed for scientific research, raised $3M in Seed funding.

The round, which brought the total amount to 4.25M, was led by Draper Associates. Backers also included Kevin Carter, Brian Pokorny, Nomad Capital, and Winklevoss Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by CEO Eric Olson, Consensus.app is a vertical search engine, which uses large language models and a corpus of 200 million scientific research papers to respond to user queries about science, health, economics, and more with a selection of answers reflecting genuine opinion. In this way, the company aims to eliminate the bias and misinformation of other search engines, and give users the answers they seek without the time and trouble of poring through results.

Since launching in September, Consensus.app has grown attracting nearly 200k registered users.
