Whisper Aero, a Crossville, TN-based tech company advancing a quiet electric ducted fan for drones, and aircraft, raised $32M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Menlo Ventures, EVE Atlas, Capricorn Investment Group, Connor Capital with participation from Kindred Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Moving Capital, AeroX Ventures, Cosmos Ventures, Linse Capital, and LaunchTN.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and development efforts.
Founded by Mark Moore and Ian Villa, Whisper Aero its a technology company advancing electric ducted fans that allow drones and aircraft to fly without disturbing communities, at greater speeds, and with improvements in efficiency and cost. The company started with a 10 lbf demonstrator propulsor that has been statically tested and flown on a 55 lbm drone to test performance and noise across the envelope.
Whisper has independently reviewed and validated its findings through six DoD contracts and agreements worth $2.2mm in total with participation from the US Air Force, US Special Operations Command, and the US Army.
The company’s team members have past experience at NASA, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Joby Aviation, Kitty Hawk, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls Royce.
