Supercritical, a London, UK-based vetted carbon removal marketplace, raised $13M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from RTP Global, Greencode Ventures, and MMC Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to grow its team, expand its product offering, and acquire additional customers.
Led by CEO Michelle You, Supercritical is a vetted carbon removal marketplace that measures, reduces and, using these CDR methods, removes carbon emissions, helping businesses achieve net zero. The technology makes it easy for companies to understand their climate impact and purchase carbon removal offsets to reduce it. The marketplace focuses on high-quality, vetted, durable CDR projects. These include engineered solutions such as biochar, direct air capture (DAC) and enhanced weathering in addition to nature-based solutions such as afforestation.
The company has two customers in the top 20 buyers of carbon removal worldwide, and recently helped Tide become the first fintech in the world to remove 100% of its emissions.
