Venus Aerospace, a Houston, TX-based hypersonic startup enabling cost-effective one-hour global transport, received an investment from Airbus Ventures.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Led by CEO and co-founder Sassie Duggleby, and CTO and co-founder Dr. Andrew Duggleby, Venus has developed a liquid-propellant rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE) which aims to make the hypersonic economy possible.
The company has been awarded contracts with NASA and US Defense Agencies to accelerate the development and transition of its RDRE technology to enhance existing government missions. The company’s advancements can also enable more efficient travel in and through space.
In Spring 2022, the company raised its $20M Series A, led by Prime Movers Lab, to fund engine development and subscale initial flight testing for building its Mach 9 hypersonic drone and Mach 9 spacecraft, both capable of one-hour global travel.
