Karta, a London, UK-based Metaverse studio pioneering the world of in-game experiential marketing, raised a seed funding round that reportedly amounted to USD1.1m.
The round was led by GameTech Ventures with participation from Amy Thomson, Toikido, Charlie Greenwood, Robert Wigley, Ste Thompson, and Big Ideas Group.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.
Launched as a startup in 2021 by music industry veteran Tony Barnes and Fnatic’s ex-Head of Events Erik Londré, Karta makes the metaverse accessible for musicians, brands and sports rights-holders. In just two years, the studio has delivered a number of projects on Roblox, Fortnite and Decentraland for the likes of Amazon Music, Unilever’s Sunsilk and most recently K-pop megastar girl group TWICE.
