Electrify Video Partners, a London, UK-based media startup specialising in YouTube content investment and acquisition, raised $85m in funding.
Private equity firm Capital D made the investment.
The company will use the funds to expand its business reach.
Co-founded in 2021 by Ian Shepherd and Owen Maher, Electrify Video Partners buys and grows established YouTube channels. In details, the company provides:
- Investment and expertise to build a team and create more content
- Resources to scale content across more platforms
- Unique insights via proprietary data to drive audience engagement
- New commercial opportunities
- Guidance and mentoring from industry veterans
Since its launch in 2021, Electrify has invested in channels across several different genres totalling more than 30 million subscribers. Acquired channels include:
- Veritasium, a leader in digital video content for science education and entertainment
- Astrum channel, a leader and trendsetter in the space and astronomy enthusiast community
- SpitBrix, which celebrates the world of Lego
- Fizzy, which entertains and explores games
