Fernride Raises $50M in Series A Funding

Fernride, a Munich, and Wolfsburg, Germany-based autonomous trucking innovator, closed a further $19M in Series A funding, bringing the total round amount to $50M.

New investors included Deep Tech and Climate Fonds (DTCF), Munich Re Ventures, Bayern Kapital, and Klaus Kleinfeld.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its business reach and development efforts.

Founded by Hendrik Kramer, Maximilian Fisser, and Jean-Michael Georg, Fernride offers scalable automation solutions for yard trucking that increase productivity, promote sustainability, and improve worker safety. The company employs a human-assisted autonomy approach, which allows for remote takeovers of trucks when necessary. Fernride uses technology to address major industry challenges, such as driver shortages and the negative environmental impact of logistics operations. The company currently has over 130 employees working in offices located in Munich and Wolfsburg.

Customers include Volkswagen, HHLA and DB Schenker.
