Gozen, a San Francisco, CA-based biomaterials startup, raised $3.3M in Seed funding.
The round saw participation from Happiness Capital (lead investor), Accelr8, Astor Management, and SOSV.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate research, development, and scaling efforts for its biomaterial, Lunaform™, and fuel the creation of new materials.
Led by CEO and Founder Ece Gozen, Gozen is a biocreation startup whose process combines naturally occurring processes with technology to disrupt the fashion, automotive and home furnishings industries. Its debut material, Lunaform™, is produced by microorganisms during a fermentation process and is distinctively free from both plastic and animal components. This material was unveiled earlier this month during Paris Fashion Week at the Balenciaga Summer 24 show Paris Fashion Week.
Available in 13-square-foot sheets with customizable thickness and texture, LUNAFORM™ sets a new standard in design adaptability. Its manufacturing method is entirely vegan, non-GMO and avoids the use of harsh synthetic chemicals.
