Invaio Sciences, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of a nature-positive solutions for farmers, acquired Peptyde Bio, a Cambridge, MA-based company that discovers, designs and characterizes novel peptides for use in agriculture.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquisition brings an established platform and IP portfolio that will enable Invaio to speed up the design and discovery of biologically active peptides that can protect crops from pests and disease in a more sustainable way.
Launched by the Danforth Technology Company, a subsidiary of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center that facilitates early-stage development of startup companies based on technologies developed by Danforth Center scientists, Peptyde Bio discovers, designs, and characterizes novel anti-microbial peptides. These peptides can complement or replace chemical fungicides because they are effective, environmentally friendly, and have lower cost of development compared to traditional fungicides.
Led by Ignacio Martinez, Founder and CEO, Invaio is a bio platform company that leverages advances in human health and digital innovation to develop biological technologies for crop health, enabling farmers to both improve yields and use more natural crop health solutions.
