Nauticus Robotics (NASDAQ: KITT), a Houston, TX-based developer of subsea robots and software, raised $12M in funding.
The backers were not disclosed.
The company intends to use the funds to expedite certification of its flagship robot, the Aquanaut, which facilitates the transformation of tethered ROV operations to fully autonomous operations.
Led by CEO Nauticus Robotics develops autonomous robots for the ocean industries which leverage sensors, artificial intelligence, and effective algorithms for perception and decision to adapt to changing environments. Its robotics systems and services are designed to address both commercial and government-facing customers. The company targets the Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) business model complemented by direct product sales of vehicles, components, and licensing of related software. Nauticus has designed and is currently testing and certifying vehicles to reduce operational cost and gather data to maintain and operate a wide variety of subsea infrastructure.
