Basalt Technologies Corp., a San Francisco, CA-based spacecraft OS company, raised $3.5M in Seed funding.
The round was led by Initialized Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the team, expand operations and development efforts.
Co-founded by Maximillian Bhatti and Alex Choi, Basalt is a spacecraft OS company building Dispatch, an OS which allows different types of satellites to work together, and produces optimized instructions for fleets of spacecraft. Over the last month, the company has launched partnerships with research institutions around the world to further develop their first ground-based product, Dispatch, aimed at commercial and government customers. The initial 10 missions include craft in development, as well as some already in space. The first in-orbit demo of the team’s simulation based control systems are planned later this Summer.
