Lucy Therapeutics Raises $12.5M in Funding

Lucy Therapeutics, a Waltham, MA-based biotechnology company, raised $12.5M in funding.

The round was led by Engine Ventures and Safar Partners with new participation from Bill Gates, Parkinson’s UK, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which provided a $2M non-dilutive grant.

Led by CEO Amy Ripka, Lucy Therapeutics is a biotechnology company that uses a novel approach to understand the mitochondrial roots of complex diseases. The biotech startup has three drug discovery programs in its pipeline, with IND filings planned in 2025.

The company intends to use the funds to further its research programs for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and continue its development of a novel drug target for Rett syndrome.
