Sava Raises $8M in Seed Funding

SAVA

Sava, a London, UK-based health monitoring company providing a wearable biosensor platform, raised $8M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Balderton Capital and Exor Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its team, design its product line with manufacturing capability, and demonstrate the platform’s clinical performance.

Founded by Renato Circi and Rafael Michali, Sava is a consumer and medical device company developing a wearable biosensor platform that can detect molecules just under the skin. Its novel microsensor technology monitors biomarkers in the body in a real-time way, starting with, but not limited to, glucose.

The startup recently gained approval from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to go ahead with clinical trials on patients with diabetes, which will help Sava validate its breakthrough technology on a larger scale.  SAVA’s microsensor will offer pain-free, real-time insights for users, with an upcoming clinical study scheduled to start with investigators from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
