SLAY, a Berlin, Germany-based social gaming company, raised $5M in Seed funding.
The round, which brought the total amount to $7.7M, was led by Accel, with participation from Laton VC, HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun, King Co-Founder Riccardo Zacconi, Popcore Co-Founder Johannes Heinze, Supercell Co-Founder and CEO Ilkka Paananen, and Tripledot Co-Founder and CEO Lior Shiff.
The company intends to use the funds to build a social gaming platform for its users and developers to create their own content and engage with its virtual pets game, Pengu.
Founded in 2022 by Berlin-based co-founders Fabian Kamberi, Jannis Ringwald and Stefan Quernhorst, SLAY is a social gaming company whose leading title, Pengu, is a virtual pets app where friends, couples and families can come together to raise a cute penguin, play engaging games, and customise their pet’s look and environment.
Now, the company is expanding Pengu, which has more than 500k DAUs, with new features, richer experiences, and a developer platform where users can create their own engaging games and content for the game ecosystem.
