Xcimer Energy Raises $100M in Series A Funding

Xcimer Energy, a Denver, CO-based inertial fusion company, raised $100M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Hedosophia, with participation from investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Prelude Ventures, Emerson Collective, Gigascale Capital and Starlight Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its team and build a prototype system to demonstrate the viability of its high-energy laser approach.

Led by CEO and CSO Conner Galloway, Xcimer is an inertial fusion company that combines novel laser technology with science to accelerate the commercial deployment of fusion energy.

Founded in 2022, it has an office in Redwood City, California.

The company also added a vice president of engineering, Giovanni Greco.

Commenting on the news, Conner Galloway said: “We’re thrilled that our industry-leading investors, as well as our partners from U.S. national labs, academic institutions and private industry, are joining us on our mission to bring safe, reliable, zero-carbon and economical energy to the world.”
