Maurten, a Gothenburg, Sweden-based sports nutrition company, raised €20M in funding.
The round was led by Iris Ventures with participation from existing investors, including CEO of Stena Sphere Dan Sten Olsson.
Founded by Mårten Fryknäs, Olof Sköld, and Karl Sköld, whom bring medical, biotech and engineering expertise, Maurten developed hydrogel technology, which is used in the brand’s Drink Mixes, Gels, and Bicarb System to allow athletes to enhance carbohydrate fueling.
Many elite athletes, including Hellen Obiri, Keely Hodgkinson, Kilian Jornet, Flora Duffy and Alex Y., use the company’s products.
The company is fueling partner to global events, including the The IRONMAN Group Global Series, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Boston Marathon, and Professional Triathletes Organisation’s T100 Global Triathlon World Tour.
