Sanctuary AI, a Vancouver, BC, Canada-based company creating the human-like intelligence in general purpose robots, received a financing from BDC Capital’s Thrive Venture Fund and InBC Investment Corp. (InBC). 

This brought the total investment in Sanctuary to over $140M to date.

The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate its progress towards bringing AI into the physical world.

Founded in 2018 by Olivia Norton, Chief Technology and Product Officer, Sanctuary AI is a company aiming to create the human-like intelligence in general purpose robots that will help to work more safely, efficiently, and sustainably, and to address the labor challenges facing many organizations today.

Sanctuary AI’s list of customers and investors represents a wide variety of industries across Canada, the US, and other countries around the world. The company’s existing investors include Accenture, Bell, Export Development Canada, Evok Innovations, Magna, SE Health, Verizon Ventures, and Workday Ventures. It also received a $30M Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) contribution from the Government of Canada in November 2022.
