Chromacity, an Edinburgh, Scotland, UK-based laser technology business, raised over £1M in funding.
Backers included Eos Advisory, Kelvin Capital, Scottish Enterprise and UK Government’s Innovate UK programme.
The company intends to use the funds to launch its technology focused on the healthcare and agriculture markets.
Led by CEO Julian Hayes, Chromacity specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of pulsed fibre lasers. It is focused on fixed wavelength femtosecond fibre lasers and picosecond optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based tuneable laser systems. Based on a novel patented laser architecture that delivers ultra stable long-term performance, the fixed wavelength femtosecond fibre lasers work at 1040nm, 920nm and 520nm, and the tuneable picosecond OPO lasers operate across the near infra-red and mid infra-red wavelengths from 1.4um to 12um.
The lasers are used principally for scientific and industrial research including spectroscopy (materials analysis), microscopy (biological imaging), defect detection, pollution monitoring and a broad variety of quantum applications.
The network of international customers include Sandia National Laboratories, Harvard University, and the US Air Force.
