Plaio, a Reykjavik, Iceland-based provider of an AI-assisted decision support platform for the pharmaceutical industry, raised €4.3M in funding.

The round was led by Iðunn, with participation from existing investors Frumtak Ventures and Dr. Agon.

Previous investments included Icelandic healthcare and pharma investors such as European pharmaceutical companies Coripharma and EpiEndo Pharmaceuticals, and employee mental health and wellbeing solution Kara Connect.

The company intends to use the funds to implement strategic enhancements to the platform’s “AI Coplanner” offering, as well as strengthen and develop both new and existing partnerships to consolidate its position in AI pharma planning solutions.

Founded by Johann Gudbjargarson Hlynur Stefansson and Eyjolfur Ingi Asgeirsson, Plaio is a software company behind the AI-driven platform empowering pharmaceutical supply chain planning combining industry expertise with AI technology to optimize complex planning processes for the pharmaceutical industry. 

Plaio’s client portfolio has grown by 200% in the last 12 months, and includes, amongst others, Covis Pharma, integrated biopharmaceutical expert, Alvotech, and international pharmaceutical company Camarus.
