SiLC Technologies, a Monrovia, CA-based AI-based machine vision company, received an investment from Honda.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Honda made the investment through its global open innovation program, Honda Xcelerator Ventures, which is led by Honda Innovations, a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts, aiming to develop new FMCW LiDAR solutions for all types of mobility.
Led by CEO Dr. Mehdi Asghari, SiLC Technologies is enabling advanced AI-based machine vision. Bringing expertise in silicon photonics, the company deploys FMCW LiDAR-based vision solutions. Notably, their 4D+ Eyeonic Chip integrates all photonics functions needed to enable a coherent vision sensor, offering a tiny footprint while addressing the need for low cost and low power. Its innovations are targeted to robotics, mobility, perimeter security, industrial automation and other markets.
