Moombix, a Reykjavik, Iceland-based provider of a music education platform, raised £1.9M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Frumtak Ventures with participation from angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to scale its platform connecting adult learners with music teachers and musicians worldwide.

Founded by Icelandic entrepreneur and graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Music Margret Juliana Sigurdardottir, Moombix is an online marketplace and learning platform that connects adult learners with music teachers worldwide. Offering live, real-time lessons tailored to fit busy schedules, Moombix supports students looking to master instruments, enhance performance skills, or learn music production and DJ software.

Moombix teachers already include respected musicians such as: Biggi Þóris (MD of the Icelandic National Theatre), Richard Bedford (Grammy nominated British singer-songwriter), Andrew Morgan (long-term collaborator with Neil Davidge of Massive Attack and global music lecturer), and Steve Riggs (DJ and producer who has worked with Sony, Armada Music, and deadmau5).
