Sallea Raises $2.6M in Pre-Seed Funding

Sallea, a Zurich, Switzerland-based deeptech startup enabling sustainable, cruelty-free whole cut meat and fish production, raised $2.6M in pre-seed funding.

The round was led by Founderful with participation from Kost Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product development and initiate pilot projects with cultivating companies around the globe.

Led by CEO Simona Fehlmann, and CCO Anna Bünter, Sallea aims to enable sustainable, cruelty-free and safe meat and fish production. Its proprietary scaffolding technology allows cultivators to grow cells into textured, nutritious whole cuts, offering an eco-friendly alternative that replicates the experience of traditional meat.

This pre-seed round marks sallea’s first equity investment, building on the $1.8M in non-dilutive funding previously secured through research and start-up grants.

Sallea is a spin-off from ETH Zurich.
