Akhetonics, a Berlin, Germany-based provider of an all-optical digital processor, raised €6M in funding.
The round was led by Matterwave Ventures, with participation from 468 Capital, Bayern Kapital, and existing investors Runa Capital, Rheingau Founders, and others.
The company intends to use the funds to deliver their hardware to pilot customers as the demand for higher performance and energy-efficient computing intensifies.
Founded in 2022 and led by CEO Michael Kissner, Akhetonics is a technology company focused on developing an all-optical processor. By utilizing light instead of electrons for computation, it aims to improve high-performance computing with its solutions and to demonstrate the full prototype of the processor by 2026, paving the way for the integration of its technology into its first product. The low latency, deterministic execution, and immunity to electromagnetic interference are critical features for customers in sectors such as aviation, defense, and networking.
