AllFocal Optics, a Cambridge, UK-based developer of nanophotonic lens technology for always-in-focus images, raised $5.3M in funding.
The round included:
- $3.6m equity raise led by SpeedInvest, with participation from 7PC Ventures, Martlet, Another.VC, Mario Gotze, Maximilian Odendahl, and Prashant Shah,
- grants by Innovate UK.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its development efforts.
Led by Dr Pawan Shretha, founder and CEO, AllFocal Optics is a Cambridge University spinout that has developed display technology that offers natural visual clarity and comfort, making digital images more accessible to everyone, including those with vision impairments such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
The proprietary technology is built on 10 years of research and development led by Shretha, a former Royal Academy of Engineering enterprise fellow.
The company also announced that Dr. Ash Saulsbury, Former Microsoft VP of Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality Leader at Meta, has joined AllFocal Optics as company Chair.
